Recording of some new year's celebrations in vienna. Captured using a clippy stereo em172 microphone and a zoom h5 handheld recorder. I positioned the microphone capsules outside the window on the left and right and then gently (almost) closed it. I setup the recorder and rolled the whole evening. This bit was around the apex of the celebrations in that part of town. Sadly some clipping occured, but i chose to upload the unaltered file. So no post-processing has been applied. Cut in ocenaudio. I needed a very specific brand of lollipop with a chocolatey center for a short film i'm working on. None of my library crunch fx sounded right, so i chomped into one myself. Just call me mr. Owl. Recorded on an iphone, about an inch from my face. Just a single crunch edited to have a little extra tail. The effect came out as a satisfying crunch with decent low-mid range. Could be pitched down a bit to act as bones, or maybe a small to medium sized tree branch. I may record more of these after i visit the dentist next.

This was recorded in the centre of oxford, near the junction between broad street and turl street, on 23rd february 2013. I was facing west along broad street with turl street, and the pavement, to my left. There are many different sounds on this recording including bikes being parked (i was standing near a bike rack) and ridden, cars lurking for a parking space, dropping people off and turning round (broad street has a car park in the middle of it), plenty of different people walking past and talking, and a big issue seller. There is the occasional bit of wind noise, but not as much as i'd feared (luckily the wind was behind me). Recorded with a marantz pmd661 with built-in microphones.

I needed a rattle-snake sound for a tracklay so recorded myself shaking my salt and pepper grinders. Considering i recorded this on a stereo mic in the bedroom of my two-bed flat, i think it came out pretty well!. This is the processed version, which has been through noise reduction and high-pass filtering (soft cut off begins somewhere around 200hz). I believe that this has drastically improved the raw recording, but if you would like to use the original and process it yourself, feel free to send me a message and i will upload it. Recorded using my zoom h1 at 48k/32-bit (because i didn't realise it wasn't set to 96k. . . Whoops!).

Rode nt4 mic with a rycote wind muff on (slight attenuation of the higher frequencies is noticeable to my ears) sitting on a chair under an awning on my porch. I hit record slightly too late to catch the first couple of bell rings, but got most of it. First we hear the church signal 8pm, then we hear the courthouse do the same thing. Also some wind in the trees right above the mic, some rain, a bit of thunder, and some cars in a small town. Also a huge truck with loud engine that sounds almost like thunder towards the end, in fact it was mixed with thunder at one moment. Captured with maudio delta1010lt soundcard.

A recording i made in may of 2013 as i was trying to get a good recording of the wonderful wood thrush recorded. You can still faintly hear the wood thrush in the background, but the nice surprise on this recording is the very clear, bubbling, trilling call of a proud little chipping sparrow. This recording was carefully made using my homemade parabolic reflector microphone. (*using my trusty rode ntg-2), and going into my handy zoom h4n recorder. I wanted to get as accurate a recording as possible so i bumped up the bit rate to 96 kpbs. I know it makes for a larger file, but i think it is worth it.

This sound was created as follows:. -zynaddsubfx free (and insanely amazing) software synthesizer generated simple g tone using a sine-wave adsynth engine- creative sbs 250 speakers played it back distorting the sound naturally and adding some interesting stereo phasing effects (is that caused by analog signal cable being longer for one speaker?)- i was manually changing the volume using the speaker's potentiometer (whitch is dirty and added some interesting noises on the right speaker, and also at peak loudness during the 54th second the right speaker is quiet)- the output was captured by zoom h2's rear mics- and recorded via usb into audacity free audio editing program- i exported the recording as 16-bit flac.

This is a simple recording of the passing crowd in the heart of the latin quarter of paris, france, on a wednesday evening between christmas and new year's eve. The recording was made at the corner of the pedestrian xavier privas and huchette streets, with the mics aimed diagonally across the street, about 4. 5 feet above ground. By a happy coincidence (i'd like to say that i engineered it, but i didn't), this sound file loops seamlessly. The clip includes the sounds of many people passing by (the area was very crowded), and some snippets of conversation, mostly in french, with a few other languages thrown in. Some faint traffic noise can be heard on the left, from the busy quai saint michel street along the south bank of the seine river, at the north end of the xavier privas street (left of the mics in this recording). Recorded with a hand-held zoom h4n, stereo, 96 khz / 24 bits, built-in mics.

Clean, dry recording of a smartphone touchscreen being rapidly tapped as if a message was being written on it. Could just as easily be used as sounds from using (writing, playing mobile games, browsing, etc) a tablet or really any relatively small touchscreen device. Tapping speed and length between taps varies throughout the recording, but overall i tried to make it sound as natural as possible while still offering options for more granular placement. Recorded with an akg p170 into a tascam 208i audio interface at 48khz/24-bit. Microphone was positioned 5-6 inches away from source. A 120hz high-pass filter was applied to remove unnecessarily pronounced bass frequencies.

This recording was made alongside a camera trap survey while at loagan bunut national park in sarawak, malaysia. Snippets from recordings of me playing the tanpura. Tuned to e flat, the notes from top to bottom are b flat, e flat, c, low e flat. In traditional indian tuning the root note in the scale is referred to as sa and is e flat in this scale the fifth note (b flat in this scale) is referred to as pa and the sixth note (c) is dha. I noticed that my first pack of tanpura samples has a bit of fuzzy white noise so in this pack i have equalized - i reduced all the very high frequencies which got rid of most of the white noise without affecting the low frequency sounds of the tanpura itself. Please note this is the tanpura part of an instrument called the swar sangam which combines the swarmandal (indian harp) and the tanpura, it is not a traditional tanpura and does sound slightly different.

A complete trip on métro (subway) line 9 of the paris subway system, from the alma-marceau station to the havre-caumartin station. Starts with descent into the métro station and ends climbing up the steps back out at the destination. One train is allowed to pass, at about the 1-minute mark, as we wait on the platform, and an announcement giving the times for the next trains can be heard. The ride on the following train begins at around the 2-minute mark. There are two loud sounds between about 9:10 and 9:20 and some loud low-frequency wind noise at around 10:40 (as we leave the métro station and return outside), so beware. Recording with zoom h4n, originally 96 khz/24 bits, uploaded as mp3 320 kbps because the wav was so big (almost 500 mb).

I was recording outside my bedroom window while eating dinner in the living room, then i came back in here to see if i got anything interesting. I was zooming through the recording at 5x speed when i came across this bit of incidental pareidolia. I'm not sure what was going on, maybe the neighbors' stereo, but i don't remember hearing it, it's much louder in the living room so i should have. Whatever it was came out as a little distant choppy 2-notes alternating melody when played at 5x speed, which suddenly gets louder and solid as you hear the lower note followed by a third lower note. These 2 louder notes sound to me like someone singing the words all day. This would lead me to believe the original tones have some light harmonics i don't hear at normal speed. After which it goes back to the softer stuttering 2-note alternating thing from before. It doesn't sound like much at all at normal speed. So i just did a few straight pitch changes with goldwave until i got to 5x and saved this little file. See if it sounds like "all day" to you.

I made this recording with my newly acquired $10 primo em172 omni mic capsules, which i soldered to a cable diy loosely based on this tutorial:http://www. Wildmountainechoes. Com/equipment/diy-stereo-electret-mics-primo-em-172-capsules/this is a good example of what the capsules sound like when plugged directly into an inexpensive zoom h1 audio recorder. So far i've been pretty stunned by the performance of these capsules, which are significantly more sensitive than the built in microphones on the h1, and to my ears sound much less muddy. I'm particularly impressed by this because the capsules are running on the 2. 5v of plug-in power that the h1 delivers, which is below the minimum specs of the capsules. Even so there is remarkably little noise. I can only imagine how they would sound with a battery pack to deliver a full 5 volts!.

I'm back with another binaural. I am attempting to capture the sounds that remind me of the places i have visited. This is a recording of fuertaventura, in the canary islands, inland in the desert, morning with the wind blowing the sand, desert mountains all around just like the wild west. I upgraded my binaural mics to roland cs-10em from my homemade ones. I'm happy if you can notice the difference. I like that they are combined mics and earphones with little windbooms. Small sample of "mandolin tremolo", using syntheway banjodoline virtual banjo and mandolin vst vst3 au (mandolin tremolo effect) and a bit of dal flute vsti at its fade-out (vst plugins software). Brief 27 seconds demo of "the godfather waltz" (nino rota). Banjodoline is a virtual banjo and mandolin vst, vst3 and audio unit plugin software, including a mandocello, mandola, octave mandolin, banjolin and electric mandolin fretted stringed instruments emulation.

It's a recording of three emtec cd-rs being broken with bare hands. I had 3 audio cd-r that were burned useless. I decided to record their last sounds. You can hear the cds cracking and breaking, me bending them and trying to break them - they were pretty elastic - i had to learn how to crack them. So at first i had some trouble. Around 0:45 you can hear as i'm bending two cds together they squeak and crackle but don't break. The sound is not edited (hence the tag "raw") - no processing was done - i just truncated the beginning and the end leaving you everything you might need. Recorded with a zoom h2 placed on my bed. I was breaking the cds above it. There was a lot of splinters around, you can hear me fiddle with them from around 2:10 on. Originally wav 96khz/24-bit. Truncated and converted to flac with audacity.

This ambience was recorded on zoom h6 with msh-6 mid-side stereo mic capsule. Recording was edited and decoded. Mic was positioned right in a frame of an open window so that it won't get flood from a heavy rain and pick up much room reflections. My flat where i recorded from was on 4th floor. There was a busy street 50m far from the apartment building itself, a bit further there was a park. Rain at that night was heavy. Also you can hear several heavy thunder hits of various distance throughout the whole recording. Hope this recording will help to enhance the sound of your next project. A soundscape of several thunderstorms mixed together to create a uniquely immersive, full field recording. This editing process allows for rain and thunder strikes to be recorded at different volumes and creates a more diverse atmosphere with different types of rain, wind, and ambiance melded into one found sound. Although each storm was recorded in a slightly different location, everything is from the greater detroit, mi, usa area. -recorded entirely with a tascam dr-03 set at 48 k / 24 bit. Then each different storm was edited together in magix music maker. -this album version fades out with a simple, repeating synth line.

This recording was done on a balmy day in early november at the shore of a small lake in southern illinois. Even though it was november, i was in a short-sleeve t-shirt, because of the warm weather that we had been having. However, there was a huge, approaching mass of cold air from canada approaching which resulted in some tremendous, steady winds, gusting up to 40 miles an hour. I literally had my zoom h4n recorder sitting in some sedge-type grasses inches from the lake, which enabled me to get the clear, crisp sound of the wind-driven wages breaking over the small rocks and sticks. Occasionally you will hear a dull roar of the wind, which i was able to decrease a bit using my graphic equalizer, although as you listen to the entire piece you will notice that i just could not eliminate all of the “wind roar”,. Still, i think this is an effective, realistic sound-record of what happens when cold air hits head on with warm air over a lake. Again, this was recorded using the zoom h4n digital audio recorder, using the built-in stereo microphones. Enjoy.

The sound is coming from the fans of a server. By pulling out one of the fans, all other fans turn up to 100%. The microphone is located above the air duct exactly in the middle of the case and thus between two fan fronts. The soundfile starts with the fans on standard speed. After a few seconds the fans turn up to 100%. I left them there for a few seconds and then quietly plugged the removed fan back in. This fan now also switches to 100% - this is the single, delayed "speed up" that can be heard from second 35. About 10 seconds later, all fans return to normal speed. Unfortunately, a colleague came in at that time and ended up talking into the recording. Due to lack of time, i was unfortunately unable to repeat the audio that day, but will certainly do another re-recording in the future. Feel free to use the sound; no attribution required. Clean recording of various sounds that would occur when maneuvering around an office space (specifically a desk) and manipulating common office objects. Recording features lots of paper rustling and sliding across a wooden desk, handling pens and a stapler, stuffing manila folders and plastic binders, and towards the end there are some sounds of small-medium sized personal bag being unzipped and zipped and then being filled with some of the office materials. Should work great for filling in general office noises in a scene or reinforcing actions that involve any of the materials featured in the recording. There should be enough variety to allow you to glean more isolated sounds or just use assortments of layered sounds. Recorded with an akg p170 into a tascam 208i audio interface at 48khz/24-bit. Microphone was positioned roughly 1. 5 - 2 feet away from the source. There is some slight room reverb present, which is intentional, and should match common office workspaces well. An 85hz high-pass filter was applied to remove any unintentional, unnatural low-frequency rumbling that may have been picked up during recording.

Bird singing recorded at around 3:40 am with yinger bm 800 ldc-microphone in front of my open window, i had to add some noise reduction because of my computer fan with reafir (there isn't really much of that noise left, atleast if compared to original). You can also maybe hear ocassional space bar-click sound maybe twice, but it's still pretty useable clip in my opinion, i recorded this just to test my new microphone, and because i couldn't sleep because of the loud birds singing, and in revenge i recorded that with my shiny new yinger bm800.
